Braveheart is a historical action drama based on Blind Harry's epic poem, “The Wallace”, which commemorates the life of Sir William Wallace, a 13th-century Scottish freedom fighter. William Wallace led Scottish rebellion against King Edward I of England during the first phase of the First War of Scottish of Independence. This 1995 film was directed by and starred Mel Gibson. Braveheart was nominated for ten Academy Awards, winning five, including the Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Film Editing, and Best Makeup at the 68th Academy Awards.
