Allamanda is a flowering plant in the dogbane family, Apocynaceae. The different species of the genus Allamanda are all native to the Americas where they are found as far south as Argentina and north to Mexico. In nature, allamandas are found growing in sunny regions with perpetually moist substrate and no frost. Allamanda is used as an ornamental plant because of its large, colorful flowers. Most species of allamanda have yellow flowers. This plant can be grown commercially from cuttings. Certain species of allamanda have been use for medical purposes, including the treatment of liver tumors, jaundice, splenomegaly, malaria, and HIV.
